June Updates

My little girl is growing up so fast! It's hard to believe that it's only been nine weeks since she entered our lives, as it seems like she's always been a part of us. She's pushing eleven pounds and growing taller every day! Just in the last week she's started smiling on command, rather than only smiling when she urinates, passes gas, or sleeps. She's also found her voice and LOVES using it as much as possible. Mr Ceiling Fan has become her very best friend in the world -- they have extravagant conversations all day long. She's such a calm, happy little baby, and I am truly so excited for all of the milestones we have to look forward to in the next few years.

Breastfeeding has been somewhat of a challenge, as Madison seems to have an allergy to something I've been eating. A few weeks ago I was put on a very strict diet -- meaning no wheat, milk, eggs, soy, peanuts [no problem there], and seafood [definitely no problem there]. To put it lightly, I'm starving. Chicken has become extremely boring, cheese just sits in the fridge and taunts me, and I miss milk more than I ever thought possible. I guess it's a good way to lose weight, but damn, what I wouldn't do for a klondike bar right about now.

Madison has had a few baby visits this month with her friends Grayson, Brandon, and Taylor, and it's so neat to me that she's going to grow up close to these kids [who just happen to be children of a few of my closest friends]. I pray every night they'll never argue or try to date one another, because their mommies plan to be close forever, so they're kinda stuck with eachother!

Back in April Adam and I decided to plan a "date-day" for June 10th, so my mom and sister came to watch Madison while we headed to the city. I can't even begin to tell you how good it feels to be out with my husband after being cooped up in the house 24/7. We're going to try to make dates more of a habit. We had such a wonderful time at the game, and even got rewarded with fireworks at the stadium after the game. I managed to find a few things I could eat, although it didn't remotely compare to Nachos and the Ghirardelli sundae I had originally planned on eating.

This weekend we had a bit of a scare -- I thought my appendix ruptured. Saturday afternoon I doubled over in some of the worst pains I've had in my life [altho still incomparable to labor pains]. We waited it out as long as I could handle it, and then finally decided to head to the ER. Why is it that every time we go to the emergency room we are joined by a waiting room full of weird people?? The last time we had an interesting lady walking around barefoot screaming horrible racial comments... this time? Mr. Bean was present, and he followed me around telling me how he's thirty points smarter than Einstein. Helloooooo, personal space please. Anyhow, after an entire evening of exams, ultrasounds, and a CT scan, it appears I had ruptured an ovarian cyst. We were relieved, but exhausted... we're just too old to be pulling all-nighters.

Sooo, the rest of the summer? Not a whole lot planned. I'm having wrist surgery next week, which will hopefully only take me out of commission for a short while [as I HATE relying on other people for help]. My sister-in-law and niece are coming to visit in July for a couple of days and I am so excited for Madison to meet her cousin. We'd like to make it out to a few more Giants games, and perhaps take Madison along with us come post-season [because there's no way the Giants won't make the playoffs]. The state fair can't come soon enough, I am counting down the days [twenty-eight to be exact]. My girlfriend Erin has also moved to Sacramento, and I am so excited for all of the girls nights we will have in the near future! I'm looking forward to a nice long summer with the ones I love, and watching this little girl grow even more every day! I probably won't be posting next week with my wrist bandaged up, so for now, I leave you with some photos.

Until next time.... xoxo.
